There’s nothing quite like the charm and sheer beauty of touring the New England states in the fall, especially if you time it right so you can see all the gorgeous hues of the leaves turning color. It’s even better if you have a professional do the driving for you, so that you can concentrate on looking out all sides of the tour bus, and not have to worry about the traffic situation. Here are four of the most popular New England road trips you should consider for your passenger bus rental this fall.

The Mohawk Trail (Massachusetts)

One of the first official scenic tourist routes in the nation, the Mohawk Trail has been a favorite of tourists since it initially opened in 1914. The best part of this trail occurs between the towns of Greenfield and Williamstown, where you will be able to observe plenty of farmland, rivers, mountains and some charming small towns along the way.

You can get a great view of the Connecticut River from Mount Sugarloaf, and you’re sure to enjoy the Clark Art Institute situated in Williamstown. Many people like to stop at the Bridge of Flowers and to enjoy some candlepin bowling in Shelburne Falls. This is a 42-mile stretch of territory between Greenfield and Williamstown, and once you make the trip, you’ll never forget it.

Kancamagus Highway (New Hampshire)

Almost everything you could possibly hope for in a New England road trip is included along this highway. You will drive through 30 twisting miles of white Mountain Forest between Conway and Lincoln, you’ll witness plenty of mountains adorned with fall foliage, and you’ll see crystal-clear ponds as well as rivers strewn with giant boulders.

A great place to begin your journey is in Conway at the Stairway Café, where you can enjoy a great country breakfast and some leisurely conversation with the owner. Many people enjoy stops at the Albany Covered Bridge, Rocky Gorge, and at Falls Pond. The highway climbs about 2,500 feet before you crest out at two breath-taking overlooks, one of which faces east while the other faces west. When you descend again, you will reach the town of Lincoln, where you can enjoy another wonderful meal at the Gypsy Café.

Route 100 (Vermont)

This route stretches approximately 200 miles from Massachusetts up to the Canadian border, and it has frequently been referred to as the best foliage viewing in the state of Vermont. This is a fairly long drive, so you may want to plan two or more days to see everything. You won’t want to miss the famous Vermont Country Store in Weston, the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory tour in Waterbury, and all the winter resort activity at Stowe, Vermont. Many people consider this the most scenic of all the foliage drives throughout New England, and Route 100 offers literally a ton of side trips off the beaten path which you’ll enjoy immensely.

Granby to Goshen (Connecticut)

In addition to the wonderful colors of fall, when you take this trip you’ll enjoy exposure to a number of historical sites, as well as some gorgeous scenery. Beginning in Granby, you can enjoy a stop at the Honey Hill Pottery store, or make a stop at the Holcomb Farm, which has about 13 miles of unique walking trails.

After driving through the American Legion State Forest, you’ll come to the Riverton General Store at Hogback Dam, where you can enjoy a nice lunch. Once you reach Goshen, you’ll want to take in the Thorncrest Farm, which is a big supplier of milk for Milk House Chocolates gourmet confections. Buy a box or two, and enjoy an ideal souvenir from your New England road trip.
