Sightseeing Trolley Tours
Exploring the city of Boston can be a very enjoyable activity for everyone in your family, and seeing it on one of the city’s Trolley Tours will make it that much more fascinating. You can hop on or hop off at any point, and see such terrific features as Faneuil Hall, Boston Common, the Old North Church, and the New England Aquarium.
Swan Boat Ride
The Swan Boat Ride lasts approximately 15 minutes, as an operator will peddle you all throughout the Public Garden lagoon. You generally won’t have to wait any longer than five or 10 minutes, and tickets can be purchased right at the Swan Boat Dock before you get on the boat. Once you hop in, you’ll love the relaxing tour around the lagoon, and you’ll enjoy a unique experience in the city.
Fenway Park Tours
By April 1, Major League Baseball is in full swing, and that means you’ll be able to see the Boston Red Sox back on the field, competing for their chance to get in the World Series. Take in a game at the ballpark, and arrange for a tour which will show you some of the impressive history of this iconic baseball team.
Museum of Science
Your whole family will love touring the Museum of Science, where you can enjoy such fabulous attractions as the Hall of Human Life, the Theater of Electricity, the Hands-on Laboratory, and the Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature. There is also a planetarium and a butterfly exhibit which you can take in at the same time.
New England Aquarium
This is one of the most popular spring attractions in Massachusetts, with exhibits that include everything from stingrays to sharks. During the springtime, whale watching tours are also available by arrangement through the Aquarium, so this is another possibility for you to consider.
Patriots Day and Marathon Monday events
While this day nominally honors the beginning of the American Revolution, it’s also the date on which the Boston Marathon is held every year. This is one of the world’s most famous races and a long-standing tradition in the city. Even if you don’t plan to compete in the event, there will be plenty of exhibits and events that you can enjoy, and it all takes place in a city with a tremendous historical background.
Picnic on Boston Common
With the arrival of spring, it doesn’t take long for all the flowers and trees in the Boston Public Garden and the Boston Common to burst into color. This provides the ideal setting for a picnic where you can enjoy the full splendor of springtime, even if it is necessary to bundle up a little bit.
Irish Film Festival
Many of the films shown at this festival have never been seen in the US, because they are delivered directly from Ireland. In fact, outside of Ireland itself, this is by far the largest film festival of its kind. There are a number of special events planned, as well as some Q&A sessions on the films themselves, and you’ll also be able to participate in commentary on behind-the-scenes issues.
Dine Out Boston
This event is staged over two weeks in March, and participants can choose from among all those restaurants involved in the event. All restaurants participating in Dine Out Boston offer lunches and dinners at pre-determined prices, and there’s something for every taste. This is a great way to get to know the offerings of individual restaurants, and simply enjoy yourself with a great meal in the city.
Boston Flower & Garden Show
This year’s theme is Garden Party: Celebrating Friends and Family, and it’s intended to be a celebration of outdoor living and interior decorating with plants that inspire us to devote more time to the people whom we care about most. There will be a number of displays on how to plant specific plants, and there will be seminars on how to improve your knowledge and growing skills, as well as some talks on sustainable gardening practices.
