The FIFA World Cup 2026 is coming to Boston this summer, and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough is hosting seven matches between June 13 and July 9. Seven matches means seven days when tens of thousands of fans from across New England and around the world will be trying to get to the same place at the same time, on roads that were not built for this kind of demand. If you are planning to attend, the transportation decision you make now will determine whether match day is something you remember for the right reasons or the wrong ones.
The short version is this. Parking at Gillette drops from roughly 20,000 spots on a normal game day to approximately 5,000 for World Cup matches, with FIFA security zones taking up the rest. The spots that remain are expected to cost between $150 and $600 per vehicle. Five of the seven matches kick off on weekday afternoons, which means Route 1 and I-95 will be dealing with both regular commuter traffic and World Cup crowds simultaneously. MBTA expanded commuter rail service from South Station and Back Bay to Foxborough Station will help, but capacity tops out at roughly 20,000 passengers per match. That covers about one third of the stadium.
Charter bus transportation is not just a convenient option this summer. For most groups, it is the only option that actually works.
Local Motion of Boston has been moving groups across Greater Boston and New England for more than 25 years. We operate 160 plus vehicles out of our Braintree headquarters, employ a team of 240 plus, and move groups of every size from 3 to 3,000 plus. We are part of Beacon Mobility, one of the largest transportation networks in the country with more than 10,000 vehicles nationwide. Our headquarters is roughly 20 miles from Gillette Stadium. We know the Route 1 corridor to Foxborough, the Storrow Drive restrictions, the downtown one ways, and the seasonal traffic patterns that trip up out of town operators. That local knowledge is what makes event day transportation run on time.
Why Group Transportation Is the Only Real Option at Gillette This Summer
Every major event at Gillette Stadium comes with traffic. The World Cup is not a major event. It is the largest sporting event in New England history, compressed into seven match days over four weeks. The math is straightforward. Roughly 60,000 fans per match. Approximately 5,000 parking spots. Five weekday afternoon kickoffs. MBTA trains at one third of stadium capacity.
Groups that drive and park individually will spend more on parking than on their tickets, arrive in separate cars with no guarantee everyone gets there on time, and face a post match exit that can take two hours or more. Groups that take a charter bus arrive together, pay nothing for parking, and have a driver and vehicle waiting on site to take them home the moment they are ready to leave.
For fans, the math is obvious. For corporate groups, the calculus is even clearer. Hosting clients or executives at a World Cup match is a hospitality investment. That investment starts the moment your guests leave the hotel. A charter bus with Wi Fi, climate control, and reclining seats is part of the experience. A parking lot scramble is not.

The Match Schedule at Gillette Stadium
Gillette Stadium will operate under the FIFA designation Boston Stadium for the tournament. The confirmed match schedule runs as follows. Saturday June 13, Group C, Haiti vs. Scotland at 9:00 PM. Tuesday June 16, Group I, TBD Playoff Winner vs. Norway at 6:00 PM. Friday June 19, Group C, Scotland vs. Morocco at 6:00 PM. Tuesday June 23, Group L, England vs. Ghana at 4:00 PM. Friday June 26, Group I, Norway vs. France at 3:00 PM. Monday June 29, Round of 32 at 4:30 PM. Thursday July 9, Quarterfinal at 4:00 PM.
Five of those seven matches kick off between 3:00 and 6:00 PM on weekdays. Anyone planning to drive from Boston or the suburbs on those days should plan for the worst traffic of the summer. Groups with a charter bus do not need to plan for traffic. They need to plan for boarding time and departure, and our team handles the rest.
What We Offer for World Cup Groups
Fan groups, corporate clients, hotels, football clubs, and destination management companies all have different transportation needs around a tournament like this. We have built our World Cup offerings around each of those categories.
For fan groups heading to a match with friends, family, or a supporters club, we run roundtrip shuttles from downtown Boston hotels, Logan Airport, and suburban pickup locations directly to Gillette Stadium. Our 55 passenger deluxe motor coach is the right vehicle for large fan groups, with Wi Fi, a lavatory, reclining seats, TV and DVD systems, and overhead storage that handles the full match day experience. Our 23 to 27 passenger mini coach bus works well for smaller groups who want a dedicated vehicle without the scale of a full motor coach.
For corporate hospitality groups, the match day experience starts before anyone reaches the stadium. Our 14 passenger corporate shuttle van is the right fit for small executive groups headed to a hospitality suite. Our deluxe motor coaches handle larger corporate groups with the amenities that client entertainment requires. Our corporate and executive transportation page covers the standard of service we bring to business client events, which applies directly to World Cup hospitality work.
For hotels and resorts across the Boston area managing an influx of international guests this summer, we build match day shuttle programs that handle route planning, scheduling, and on site coordination. Your property offers guests a seamless transportation experience without managing it in house. We handle the complexity.
For visiting football clubs and national federations, we provide multi day, multi stop charter logistics between base camps, training facilities, hotels, airports, and the stadium. France is basing its operations in downtown Boston. Ghana is training in nearby Rhode Island. Our fleet depth and multi day charter experience support team logistics from arrival through departure.
We also offer shuttle service to the official FIFA Fan Festival at Boston City Hall Plaza, which will feature free public screenings, live music, and cultural events throughout the tournament. Groups can book a combined match day itinerary that covers both the Fan Festival and Gillette Stadium in a single booking.
The Right Vehicle for Every Group Size
Our full fleet covers groups from 3 to 3,000 plus. The 55 passenger deluxe motor coach is the flagship for large fan and corporate groups, with the full amenity package that long match day trips call for. The 30 to 40 passenger motor coach serves mid size groups with comfortable seating, audio and video, and climate control. The 23 to 27 passenger mini coach bus handles smaller groups with modern amenities and the right sized footprint. The 14 passenger corporate shuttle van is the right vehicle for small executive groups and VIP transfers.
For groups over 55, we coordinate multi vehicle charters. Corporate clients, hotel programs, and supporter groups with 100 or more passengers tell us the headcount and we build the plan.
Plan Around the Traffic, Not Into It
Distances to Gillette Stadium from key Boston area points give a clear picture of what match day driving looks like on a normal day, before World Cup traffic is factored in. Downtown Boston is roughly 25 miles away, which translates to 45 to 90 minutes depending on conditions. Logan Airport is roughly 30 miles. Providence is roughly 20 miles. Our Braintree headquarters is roughly 20 miles from the stadium, which is part of why we are well positioned to manage Gillette transportation at scale.
On a weekday afternoon in June with 60,000 fans converging on Foxborough from across New England, normal estimates do not apply. Groups with a charter bus depart on a planned schedule, travel together, and have a driver managing the route. Groups in individual cars navigate all of that independently. The difference in arrival reliability and post match stress is not small.
Book Early
Charter bus availability across the Boston area will be tight throughout June and July. The most popular match dates, particularly the England vs. Ghana match on June 23 and the July 9 quarterfinal, will fill first. Our team is already fielding inquiries and building multi match programs for corporate clients and hotel partners.
The booking process is straightforward. Submit the online form at our reservations page or call our team directly. Share your group size, pickup location, match date, and any special needs. Your reservation agent will return a proposal with vehicle recommendations, route details, timing, and pricing. Approve the proposal and your vehicles and dates are locked in.
Corporate clients and groups over 100 can contact our corporate sales team for custom billing, multi day packages, and dedicated account management.
