Travel is wonderful when you go alone, but even better when you go with others. In particular, if you really want to make the most of your travels, you will want to think about traveling in a group, even if it is only a relatively small one. Doing that is going to mean that you get a lot more out of the experience, and in particular that you are not going to struggle to have the kind of fun you want to have. If you are looking for some fantastic New England destinations that your small group should visit this coming summer, take a look at the places below. Any of these are going to be amazing to visit.

Massachusetts Bay

If you have never been to Massachusetts Bay before and you would like to experience the kind of beauty that New England has to offer, then you are going to want to change all that in this trip. Going to Massachusetts Bay with your small group is going to be a wonderful experience, in particular for the fact that you will be able to go and do some whale-watching. Massachusetts Bay is the best place in New England – and one of the best in the country – to see whales from, especially if you go and visit the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, where many whales go to eat. You are likely to see a range of whales here, and it is the kind of experience you and your group will probably never forget.

Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor in Maine is a great place to visit if you are keen to see some beautiful countryside. If you want to see the rolling hills and beautiful sea, and do a spot of animal watching, then you can do all of that and more at Bar Harbor. Although it is somewhat small, there is plenty there for the tourist, and it’s a beautiful part of the world to truly get lost in. For those who love to walk, there are some amazing, beautiful forest tracks that you can follow. So this might be an ideal place to go with a group of walkers or hikers, or anyone who is interested in being fit and healthy while traveling. Bar Harbor has to be a top destination spot for any group of keen travelers.

Providence

As the capital and most prominent city on Rhode Island, Providence is an absolute must-go if you are traveling around New England and your group wants to see an amazing city full of life. It was founded in 1636 and is one of the very oldest cities anywhere in the United States. That obviously gives it a great degree of history that you might not get in other places, so it could be the ideal spot for New England traveling folk looking to learn a little history along the way. What’s more, it has a bustling, vibrant arts scene, and you are bound to find yourself in the accompany of some wonderful artists, writers, painters, musicians and more. You can go around the theaters or visit the museums, and in either case you are going to find this an amazing place to visit.

Newport

Newport has one of the more interesting histories of anywhere in New England, maybe the US as a whole. During the Revolutionary War it was almost entirely destroyed by the British, but over time it once again became the haven that it is known as today. There is no wonder why it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, as it really is the kind of place that strikes anyone as idyllic. In particular, if you and your small group love to eat at amazing restaurants, you could do much worse than visit Newport, which has plenty of them to choose from.

Portland

Back to Maine, and we have one of the best-known cities in the world, and with good reason. Portland is a truly beautiful city visited by many people every year, and it has a rich and vibrant history that you will find amazing and fascinating to uncover and explore. Plus, if you and your group are looking for something of a luxury time, then you can choose between many lavish accommodations that the city has to offer, all while taking in the peaceful yet bustling scene. There are few places quite as unique as Portland, so it should really be on your list of New England destinations.
